Hyland Hills PARKFEST to be an Annual Event!

Hopefully, you were able to join about 500 or so of your fellow Hyland Hills Residents on the evening of September 14th at Clear Creek Valley Park for a really great community celebration! It was the annual Hyland Hills Park and Recreation District PARKFEST event and the weather could not have been better. The District’s flagship regional park was absolutely in its full glory!
Hyland Executive Director, Yvonne Fischbach, envisions the FREE entry event as a one that will occur every year, around September, at Clear Creek Valley Park, located at 58th and Tennyson Street. She says it’s a big THANK YOU to the community for supporting the Hyland District’s park project for so many years before it actually came into fruition to be enjoyed by all.
The inaugural event actually took place last year, but the weather did not cooperate, and there was minimal attendance. This year, PARKFEST happened on a beautiful summer night and the crowd was really ready for some fun. The painfully manicured grass that had been carefully cultivated by the Hyland Hills Parks Department over the past two seasons was like a silky carpet to bare feet. A popular local band, The Hot Lunch Band, provided a groove that had a lot of people dancing. Several food trucks were kept busy dishing out delicious options, along with local beer and wine partners who poured their best drinks. Two large bouncy castles were a hang-out for the little ones, where yelps of joy from the children added to the ambiance of the evening. The District’s friends at the Adams County Sheriff’s Office and Adams Fire Rescue were also on hand, providing a horse patrol, and patrol car rides for the kids with lights on and an occasional siren blaring for the happy kids, as well as big red firetrucks to the delight of all. At the end of the night, two hot air balloons provided a beautiful glow for everyone to enjoy together
Dozens of Hyland Hills employees volunteered their Friday evening to make the event such a success and are already looking forward to next year’s event. The tentative date for the 2019 PARKFEST is Friday, September 13th (YES, Friday the 13th); so mark your calendars and we’ll plan to see you there!
