Adventure Golf & Raceway is one of the north metro areas’ best-known family fun centers. It features three fully themed miniature golf courses, a ropes course, maze, bumper cars and go-karts that move quickly on a custom figure-8 track.      This Hyland Hills Park and Recreation facility is highly visible to passerby traffic at 96th Avenue and Sheridan Boulevard, largely because of its “erupting volcano” and other animations that get a lot of attention.      The park opens in early March and stays open through Halloween, weather permitting. The park is also home to a spectacular holiday lights event.      Getting ready for the season takes more than simply flicking a switch, so today, we’ve asked Operations Manager Allen Brown to take us through what it actually takes to takes to get this beautiful facility ready for the [...]

PARKFEST 2019 was A-W-E-S-O-M-E! Third Year Was a Charm

This year’s Hyland Hills PARKFEST was a giant success with about 2,500 Residents joining the fun at Clear Creek Valley Park on Friday the 13th. It was the District’s third year hosting the free community festival and it was the best attended one yet. The weather could not have been better, it was perfect, as if the stars aligned in a pact with the beautiful full moon to guarantee a memorable and wonderful evening for all. Residents started to arrive a little before five and continued to eat, drink and be merry into the evening. In addition to the great food, desserts and beverages, the crowd enjoyed a Kid’s Zone, air castles, community information booths, the Adams County Sheriff’s Horseback Team, and the Adams County Fire Rescue Team. Of course, the super energetic Wash Park Band put on quite the [...]

Please Save the Date for PARKFEST on September 13th!

This year will mark the third year for the Hyland Hills PARKFEST celebration at Clear Creek Valley Park. PARKFEST is a FREE ADMISSION community fair that is open to everyone and we are hoping to see you and your family there! The fun starts at 5 pm and goes until 9 pm, featuring great entertainment, food trucks, soda, beer and wine vendors, air castles, and a hot air balloon “glow-out,” to end the evening. Entertainment this year will be the live music of the metro area’s very popular Wash Park Band. They are well known for their high-energy powerhouse vocals and dynamic rhythm and horn sections. So, bring the family and plan on an evening of listening and dancing fun. Food trucks will be on hand to with various offerings such as pizza from I Pie, barbeque from Seasoned [...]

Hyland Hills Seeking Master Planning Input From the Community!

It’s sometimes hard to believe, since many of us “live the world” of the Hyland Hills Park and Recreation District, that not everyone knows about us, or all the great things we are doing for this community. Here’s one thing everyone should know. The District is embarking on the process of building long range goals for the District in a document that, once created, will be called a Master Plan. If there is an idea or thought YOU would like to contribute to make the Hyland Hills community’s park and recreation programs or facilities better, we’d love to hear about it! There are a lot of new people in our District and many were not residents nearly two decades ago when the last Master Plan was developed. At that time, our outreach into the community yielded fantastic ideas that were [...]

Hyland Hills’ Summer Interns are Amazing I am a one-person department as the Director of Communications for Hyland Hills. Throughout the year, the job is a busy one due to the fact that I work with every department in the Hyland Hills Park and Recreation District. My job is to know what’s going on and to communicate that with you, our Residents, about what is happening in the District. We are a large District, serving a 25-square mile area. With 32 parks, three community centers, an indoor arena, Water World, Adventure Golf and Raceway, The Greg Mastriona Golf Courses at Hyland Hills, Ice Centre at the Promenade, and FIT by Hyland Hills, it can get just a little busy around here. Hopefully you know all about Hyland Hills and are actively engaging with our website, [...]

When Hyland Hills Horticulturist John Navant Speaks, People Listen!

Home sweet home for Hyland Hills Water World Horticulturist John Navant are the two greenhouses he calls home when he’s at work for Hyland Hills. It is his job to provide one of the most loved and talked about attractions at Water World, its amazing flowers, hanging displays, tropical gardens and topiaries. Year after year, guests comment about and take pictures of John’s pride and joy. Thankfully, his wife Shaylene, a horticulturist herself, for the City of Westminster, and son Eli, a freshman in Golden, share the same love of beautiful landscaping and amazing flowers. I mean he really cares about, and speaks with such pride about, what he does, so I would imagine dinnertime conversations include one or more tidbits about “work.” Just a couple of months ago, John offered an opinion to Colorado State University’s Flower Trail Garden [...]

Hyland Hills Beginner Basketball Camp Says Thanks to Coach Mike Najera and … HOORAY for ROCKY! Every year, Hyland Hills sponsors a beginner’s basketball camp for youngsters between the ages of 5 – 8 years old. This year’s camp, was held the evening of March 27th at Ranum Middle School. The camp was billed as a 2-hour instructional camp where the young participants would be taught some basic dribbling, passing, and shooting skills along with some development techniques. But this year, Coach Mike Najera had something special in mind. He came to me through the Hyland Hills athletic manager, Chris Robson, and said he had purchased some Denver Nuggets game tickets to use as prizes at the camp, but had been thinking how “cool” it would be to surprise the kids with a [...]

Oh Yes We Did!

We are so happy to share the news. On March 1, 2019, Hyland Hills Park and Recreation District became the proud owner/operator of the FIT by Hyland Hills fitness center located at 120th and Federal Boulevard! Conversations that began last fall with the past owners yielded a state-of-the-art fitness center for Hyland Hills that will allow us to offer a fantastic new service, and reasonably-priced fitness center memberships to our Residents and guests! This is an exciting purchase for us because the fitness business fits nicely within the scope of services the District currently provides, and we really didn’t have anything like it in the Hyland Hills District portfolio. Plus, the location of the new center will give us more presence in the northern part of the Hyland Hills District, where there [...]

Happy New Year from Hyland Hills, where we are all wishing you a wonderful and prosperous 2019! This year, you’ll notice that we will be continuously celebrating throughout the entire year at our facilities because we have many, many delightful reasons to do so. * The Greg Mastriona Golf Courses at Hyland Hills continues to let the good times roll. In the early 1960’s, Hyland Hills applied for and received the first Federal Open Space Grant for golf course land acquisition, to build the first ever golf course in Adams County. Over the years, the golf course has played host to thousands of tournaments and hundreds of thousands of golf memories made by dedicated lovers of the game. * Water World isn’t too far behind, splashing in at 40 years old in 2019. The park [...]

Please Donate a Toy to the Adams County Sherriff’s Foundation Today! When a couple of representatives from the Adams County Sheriff’s Foundation came to Hyland Hills last year to ask for help in finding toys for needy children, it was quickly made very clear that Hyland Hills employees had the heart and compassion to listen. Why? Because our team realized that we are so fortunate to be able to come to work each day, allowing us to have a regular stream of income to help us navigate through life and its everyday challenges. We learned that this is not the case for a lot of the families with children that the Adams County Sheriff’s Department interacts with during the holiday season. Often, those interactions are the result of a traumatic, sometimes [...]
