Mastriona Receives Nancy Heil Lifetime Achievement Award

The Nancy Heil Lifetime Achievement Award

The City of Westminster’s most prestigious award, The Nancy Heil Lifetime Achievement Award is presented to an individual residing in Westminster that has made lifelong contributions of lasting significance to the City of Westminster. Originating in 2018, the award is named for former Westminster Mayor, Nancy Heil. In the late 1990’s, then-Westminster Mayor Nancy Heil had a vision for an organization that could provide charitable support to the entire City of Westminster. Mayor Heil and a dedicated group of volunteers formed the Westminster Legacy Foundation in 2001 to support programs and projects that strengthen and enhance the Westminster community and our residents.

Greg Mastriona has devoted his 42-year career as Executive Director of the Hyland Hills Park and Recreation District to enhance the quality of life for area citizens through parks and recreation improvements and programs. His visionary approach has brought award-winning facilities such as Water World and the 27-hole golf course named after him for the public’s enjoyment.  His quiet, unassuming style helped create various cooperative agreements between the District and the City of Westminster, including the spectacular Ice Centre at the Promenade, the Carroll Butts Athletic Park and Indoor Sports Arena and an agreement which allows all Westminster residents to enjoy District facilities and programs at in-District rates. Greg’s legacy will live on for many years to come.
