Where do we “grow” from here?
Hyland Hills is excited to launch a District Strategic Plan process and needs your input on how to shape the future of our services in the District.
Hyland Hills is developing a 10-year Strategic Plan to guide our decision-making for the future growth and development of parks, facilities, and program offerings. We strive to provide first-class parks, open spaces, facilities, and recreation programs that enrich and promote a healthy lifestyle, create memorable experiences, and build relationships between the District and its community while valuing equity and inclusion.
Throughout 2023, we’ll be diving into the services, programming and amenities that are currently provided and looking at future community needs as Hyland Hills prioritizes future projects.
This is a community-wide effort, and we need your help! Below you’ll find a list of ways to get involved, voice your opinion, and help shape the future of parks and recreation in the Hyland Hills District.
Stages of the Planning Process
A kickoff meeting was held with the Hyland Hills Board of Directors and staff in June 2023. The meeting included a review of the process, a list of deliverables and a conversation about project goals and objectives.
This phase involves a comprehensive engagement strategy with our community. We want to hear from you! There are several ways to get involved, including providing feedback online and in-person at free community events:

This phase involves collecting data for parks and facilities inventory as well as recreation program assessment. The consultants will evaluate levels of service, benchmark Parks and Recreation resources, and assess accessibility to park and recreation assets for District residents.
The consultants will hold workshops that will conclude with recommendations, priorities, implementation strategies, and an action plan.
A draft plan will be developed and presented for final approval.
This phase involves workshop implementation, presentation to Town Council and ongoing project management services
2020 Master Plan
The Hyland Hills Park & Recreation District adopted a Master Plan in 2020. This plan primarily focused on parks and recreation programming and did not include any of the enterprise facilities. A lot has happened since then including the renovation of parks, new programs as well as the anticipated completion of the Hyland Hills Sports Center.
In addition, new types of recreation activities have become popular and how we spend our recreational time has changed. The enterprise facilities such as Water World, Golf Courses, Ice Centre and Adventure Golf & Raceway, are in need of capital improvements. The purpose of this Strategic Plan is to set a direction for these facilities and recreation programs offered by the District for the next decade and beyond.
