Nick McCoy – In his own words.

I can proudly say that I am a native to Colorado, (6 generations in a matter of fact) and I have resided in the Hyland Hills Park and Recreation District for my entire life.  My family’s involvement with Hyland Hills is nothing of the minimal; from toddlers we attended swim classes, to teenagers in golf, to employment for the District parks and as a father where I have coached in basketball.  The traditions and life skills I have learned from being a part of the Hyland Hills community, my wife and I now have the opportunity to share and educate to our three children.

I am a person who exemplifies the concept of ‘community involvement.’  I have developed relationships with many local organizations as seen below:

·        I have coached local youth for eight years in baseball, basketball, and soccer.

·        For the past 6 years I have resided on the Board of Directors for Shaw Heights Little League and currently serve as the Vice President for Senior Baseball.

·        In past years I volunteered with District 50’s Bond phone bank.

·        I am an annual presenter to Westminster High School’s 9th grade classes about careers in the skilled trades.

·        I volunteer in numerous activities for Shaw Heights Middle School and Sunset Ridge.

·        I serve on many Ad Hoc committees for District 50, all of which are to reinvent and grow the district.

·         I am an annual volunteer with the Ciancio Thanksgiving community dinner.

With all this involvement I can confidently say that I am looking forward to representing Hyland Hills well.

Currently I am employed with District 50 in the Auxiliary Services Maintenance Department. I am the lead master electrician and hold the electrical contractor’s license for the district. My job necessitates that I be familiar with the condition of all areas of the district's facilities. I coordinate daily with all trades in the Maintenance Department, custodial, transportation, warehouse, food services, administration, and building staff. Working with the multiple services departments enabled me to develop a unique perspective on all daily operations. Furthermore, working with a State institution I take with great consideration to manage the day to day budget. I am very aware of the tax payer’s dollars and because of that I am fiscally responsible.
