HYLAND HILLS PARK AND RECREATION DISTRICT
Hyland Hyland Hills Park and Recreation District, established in 1955, has the honor of being the first park and recreation district in the State of Colorado. Today, Hyland Hills serves nearly 110,000 residents in a 24 square mile area located in southwest Adams County and including: the areas of Westminster and Arvada located in Adams County; parts of Northglenn, Thornton and unincorporated Adams County; and, the City of Federal Heights.
Hyland Hills offers such world-class facilities as Water World - known as America's largest family waterpark, the nationally acclaimed Golf Courses at Hyland Hills, the Ice Centre at the Promenade, located at the Westminster Promenade (a joint endeavor with the City of Westminster), Adventure Golf and Raceway, the Donald E. VanArsdale Gymnastics Center and the MAC, a center for active adult lifestyles (jointly owned with the City of Westminster). In addition, Hyland Hills maintains 27 parks with a total of 424 acres, 29 sports fields, 3 community centers, 8 racquetball courts, 15 tennis courts, 3 outdoor swimming pools, a disc golf course, a skate park and batting cages at the Sports Complex.
Hyland Hills further provides a wide variety of sports and recreational programs, before and after school programs, vacation camps, swimming lessons, sports leagues, preschool and much more – all at amazingly affordable cost.
The Hyland Hills Foundation has given thousands of dollars in scholarships to children living in the District to ensure that no child will be unable to participate in District activities due to financial constraints. Hyland Hills Foundation

On May 7, 2002, Hyland Hills voters approved an $18 million general obligation bond issue to finance numerous renovations and upgrades to District facilities and to purchase land for parks and open space. Since then, outdoor swimming pools and community centers have been renovated and parks and sports fields upgraded. In addition, almost 100 acres of park/open space has been acquired.
In the fall of 2007, the Carroll Butts Althletic Park, a joint operation with the City of Westminster was opened in the old ice arena building at 94th and Perry St. in Westminster.
